Demo day

After our official launched in August, our team went back to Ghana and Nigeria for 3 weeks, before returning to Boston to finish Delta V — our accelerator program.

Our first 500 users:

In Ghana, we returned to schools, sometimes going from classroom to classroom, to speak with students, both for more interviews (for market research) and to grow our userbase. Within 4 weeks of launching our app, we reached 500 users!

Demo days:

Our team returned to the US in September to finish up our accelerator program. As soon as we got back, we focused on the big day — “Demo day” — to present our company to the world. After 2 weeks of preparation, refining our pitch and message, we presented dot Learn at MIT, in NYC and in SF. Take a look at our pitch!

Hitting the ground running:

After Demo day, we were able to get back to the business of actually building our business. Sam moved to Ghana to continue working on dot Learn full time.

We’ve also since grown to 5 employees in Accra and Lagos, as well as a support team of 10 volunteers — all working to continue building the business — from market research and user growth, to technology development, to production development, to building our educational videos and curriculum design.

Stay tuned for an update in January, as we finish our pilots and reach thousands of students!

Thanks,

Sam
